Automation Engineer

As an Automation Engineer, you will support our continued growth of Automation within our manufacturing and engineering teams, we have created an excellent opportunity for an individual to join the Colewell Automation family. The Automation Engineer will be focused on programming and writing code to ensure our robot-based automated solutions execute to our customers’ standards as well as participating in regular project meetings to ensure automation projects and timelines are progressing as planned.

The Role



Responsibilities
  • Create Robotic Programs and simulations for Automation projects and for proving Automation Concepts in Colewell’s Research & Development Lab
    • These programs vary from medium to high complexity
  • Integrate auxiliary equipment, such as machine vision 2D & 3D, Auxiliary axis, Servo controlled EOAT’s, etc. into the robotic programs
  • Work with the Engineering Team to strategize the best way to automate a process with robotics
  • Manage Automation Projects with ME’s, EE’s, and Project Manager
  • Modify/troubleshoot PLC-HMI programs using various software packages
    • These programs vary in complexity.
  • Assemble Mechanical components for automation systems
  • Wire and fabricate electrical control panels.
  • Wire external machine components to the electrical cabinet
  • Install systems at customer sites. This varies depending on the project time frame and size of the projects
  • Integrate Colewell systems to auxiliary machines and equipment
Qualifications
  • An associate degree in electromechanical technology, automation engineering technology, related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 3 – 5 years of related work experience is required
  • Good working knowledge of Fanuc ROBOGUIDE robotic programming software
  • Demonstrates deductive reasoning when troubleshooting
  • Independently able to read and interpret instructions in a variety of formats (instruction manuals, electrical schematics, mechanical prints, written, or verbal instructions)
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook) and general computer literacy
  • Must be a self-starter, team player, work well with others, and have a positive attitude
  • Must demonstrate strong attention to detail
